St. Patrick's Day Sensory Bin

Sensory play involves touching, seeing, smelling, hearing, and tasting things. It is play that engages one or more of the five senses and also including sense of balance, learning how the body works and understanding body relationship to objects.

Benefits of sensory play includes exploring with the body's senses and abilities, and the world around us. Other benefits include: 
    •  Fine and gross motor skills development
    • Cognitive ability is enhanced
    • Self-confidence and independence develops
    • Learning and enjoying creative and physical freedom
    • Language development  
 
 Sensory Activities
    • Sorting (color, size, shape, texture)
    • Patterning
    • Counting
    • Transferring and pouring (fine motor skills)
    • Play "I Spy"
    • Encourage your child to make up a story about the objects (language development
 
 Materials (found at any dollar store)
    • Beans as a base
    • Gold and green coins 
    • Foam shamrocks 
    • Shamrock necklaces
    • Green bugs
    • Spoons, scoops, cups etc. for transferring and pouring
    • Leprechaun foam hats
    • Beads (glass and plastic)
    • Small strips of green or gold ribbon
    • Add anything else you feel would be fun for your kids!
